Job summary

Heritage of Meyerland in Houston is seeking a Cook to coordinate, prepare, and cook daily meals for dementia residents, ensuring dietary restrictions and nutritional requirements are met in line with health standards.

You will collaborate with medical and nursing staff, maintain sanitation, supervise kitchen staff, and engage residents with meaningful activities. Weekend coverage and on-call availability are required.

Qualifications

• One year certificate from college or technical school; and two to three years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of special diets and food preparation for Alzheimer's patients.
• Must hold a valid Food Handler's Permit.
• Minimum one year batch cooking experience utilizing commercial kitchen equipment. Experience preparing special diets for Alzheimer's residents strongly desired.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and prepare meals for dementia residents.
• Adhere to food sanitation and infection control procedures.
• Cook high-quality, nutritious meals according to recipes/menu.
• Prepare meats and seafood; serve sauces, vegetables, soups, and other foods.
• Portion foods and guide kitchen staff on portions and garnishes.
• Engage residents in meaningful conversations and activities.
• Provide work direction to kitchen staff under the Culinary Manager.
