Job description

Demand Planning Manager

Ref No: 1490

Location: Norwalk, CT

Company Description

We’ve partnered with a rapidly growing, data-driven e-commerce company – a top Amazon and Walmart.com seller that is expanding into retail, creating a more traditional consumer products company.

Looking to create a more accurate forecast while managing the challenging fluctuations that take place in the aggregator market, they are looking for a Demand Planning Manager with advanced modeling and analytics experience.

Position Description

This is a high-impact, analytics-first role focused on solving complex demand forecasting challenges in a highly dynamic marketplace environment. Unlike traditional demand planning roles, this position requires strong mathematical and modeling capabilities to forecast demand with significant volatility driven by pricing, promotions, and competitive dynamics.

You will work closely with the Associate Director of Demand Planning, acting as the analytical engine behind forecasting, building models, identifying causal drivers of demand, and continuously refining forecasts to improve business performance.

  • Build and continuously refine demand forecasts using advanced Excel-based models and statistical approaches.
  • Analyze large datasets (sales, pricing, inventory, marketplace metrics) to identify key demand drivers and causal relationships.
  • Develop forecasting strategies across varying levels (SKU, parent, category) based on data patterns and business needs.
  • Incorporate price elasticity, promotions, and competitive dynamics into forecasting models to account for demand volatility.
  • Perform root‑cause analysis on forecast accuracy and proactively adjust models to improve performance.
  • Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights that inform pricing, advertising, and assortment decisions.
  • Partner cross‑functionally while maintaining a data‑driven, independent forecasting approach.
  • Support inventory optimization efforts by improving forecast accuracy to reduce excess inventory and storage costs.
Background Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field with 5+ years of experience in data‑driven forecasting, analytics, or quantitative business roles.
  • Advanced Excel expertise required (Power Query, Power Pivot, complex modeling; ability to build forecasting models from scratch).
  • Strong analytical skillset with experience working with large, complex datasets, applying statistical concepts, and identifying causal demand drivers.
  • Proven ability to translate data into actionable insights that influence business decisions in fast‑paced, high‑variability environments.
  • Experience in e‑commerce, marketplaces (Amazon/Walmart), or CPG preferred; exposure to AI / advanced modeling tools (e.g., Claude) is a plus.
Miscellaneous
  • Compensation: $110,000 – $125,000 + bonus.
  • Full benefit package including medical, dental, 401(k), in‑office gym, parental leave and much more.
