Job summary

Leidos Biomedical Research, Inc. at the Frederick National Laboratory in Frederick, MD, is seeking an experienced Enterprise Data Architect/ETL Lead to design and govern Costpoint analytics, data models, and cloud data platforms. This hybrid role requires on-site presence at least one day per week.

You will lead data integration using SSIS, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, and SQL databases, ensure data quality and security, and mentor developers and analysts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or four (4) years relevant experience in lieu of degree.

Program Description

The Enterprise Solutions group (BES) is part of the Enterprise IT directorate, overseeing the strategic vision and implementation plan of IT systems and solutions that the support Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research (FNL) operational and scientific organizations. The BES scope includes development, integration and optimization of the enterprise business systems used by the FNL operator, Leidos Biomedical Research, as well as logical and automation solutions for the scientific community.

This is a hybrid position in Frederick, MD requiring working on site a minimum of one (1) day per week.

Key Responsibilities

• Deltek Costpoint Data & Reporting Architecture. Serve as a subject matter expert for Deltek Costpoint data architecture, deeply understanding Admin, System, Transactional, Time & Expense, and Project schemas, and translating them into optimized analytical models.
• Enterprise Data Modeling Leadership. Lead the design and governance of enterprise-grade data models (conceptual, logical, and physical), including dimensional and relational models, to support Costpoint analytics, financial reporting, and executive BI.
• Enterprise BI Modernization. Lead the conversion of legacy databases, converting Oracle Stored Procedures to reduced and OOTB transformation model.
• Performance & Scalability Engineering. Drive performance optimization across data models, SQL logic, and integration pipelines, ensuring solutions scale with business growth and reporting demand.
• Advanced Data Integration Architecture. Architect and implement complex, high-volume data integration solutions using SSIS, Azure Data Factory, and cloud-native patterns, integrating Deltek Costpoint with downstream analytics platforms.
• Cloud Data Platform Design. Design and evolve cloud-based data architectures leveraging Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Synapse Analytics, and related services to support scalable, future-state analytics.
• Data Governance & Integrity. Establish and enforce data quality, integrity, security, and lineage standards across all integration and modeling layers.
• Technical Leadership & Standards. Define and manage transformation project/tasks; Provide technical guidance and mentorship to developers and analysts; Define operational approach for ETL/ELT.

Basic Qualifications

• Possession of Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university according to the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or four (4) years relevant experience in lieu of degree. Foreign degrees must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency.
• In addition to the education requirement, a minimum of eight (8) years of experience in data integration, ETL, and data modeling roles.
• Demonstrated experience designing enterprise analytics platforms, not just developing pipelines.
• Proven ability to translate complex ERP data structures into clean, business-friendly analytical models.
• Experience leading cloud migration or modernization initiatives for data platforms.
• Deltek Costpoint / ERP. Extensive experience working with Deltek Costpoint (or other ERP), with strong understanding of Accounting, Projects, People, and related financial/process data flows.
• Business Intelligence Integration. Familiarity integrating modeled data with Cognos and other enterprise BI platforms.
• Data Modeling, Expert Level. Proven expertise in enterprise data modeling, including star/snowflake schemas, financial and project accounting models, slowly changing dimensions, and fact table design.
• Database Platforms. Advanced mastery of SQL Server and/or Oracle databases, including query optimization, indexing strategies, and large-scale data transformations.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across IT, finance, and business stakeholders.
• Ability to work on site in Frederick, MD a minimum of one (1) day per week.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Azure Data Ecosystem. Strong knowledge of Azure SQL DB, ADLS, Synapse Analytics, and modern cloud data architecture patterns.
• Integration & ETL Architecture. Deep, hands‑on expertise with SSIS and Azure Data Factory (or similar technologies), including complex orchestration, dependency management, error handling, and monitoring at scale.
• Programming & Automation. Experience with Python for data transformation, automation, or integration enhancements.
