Job summary

Opifex-Synergy in Ocala, FL is seeking a CDL Driver to transport construction equipment on local and regional routes. You will ensure safe, timely deliveries with DOT compliance and company policies.

The role requires a Class A CDL, a clean driving record, and the ability to perform thorough pre-trip inspections, manage logs, and communicate professionally with customers. This is a demanding, hands-on driving position in a dynamic field.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Load, unload, and secure equipment for transport.
• Safely load and unload various equipment with proper tools.

• Confirm load documentation is accurate and equipment is protected.
• Operate commercial vehicles on local and regional routes.
• Plan efficient travel paths considering traffic and deadlines.
• Adapt to schedule changes and customer needs.
• Complete pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections.
• Identify mechanical issues early and report promptly.
• Maintain logs and follow safety protocols.
• Communicate professionally with customers to ensure a positive delivery experience.
• Provide updates on timing, equipment condition, and special instructions.

CDL Drivers transport construction equipment between locations using tractor trailers and heavy trucks. They must adhere to traffic and safety regulations while still making their deliveries on time. Drivers must hold a Class A commercial driver’s license and maintain their medical certification as required. Driving large vehicles can be difficult, so CDL drivers must be comfortable operating heavy machinery and have the hand-eye coordination to do it proficiently. They are also legally required to have strong eyesight and hearing and be in good physical health.

Essential Functions

• Loading, unloading, and securing of equipment for transport
• Safely loads and unloads various types of equipment using proper tools and handling techniques
• Ensures all cargo is balanced, tied down, and secured in compliance with company policies and federal safety regulations
• Confirms that load documentation is accurate and equipment is protected during transit
• Operates commercial vehicles on local and regional routes
• Plans efficient travel paths considering traffic, weather, and delivery deadlines
• Adapts to schedule changes and customer needs
• Completes thorough pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections
• Identifies mechanical issues early and reports promptly
• Keeps accurate inspection logs and follows safety protocols
• Communicates professionally with customers to ensure a positive delivery experience

• Addresses concerns promptly and courteously

Required Education and Experience

Work Environment

• Work is performed in construction sites, equipment yards, and transportation routes
• Regular exposure to heavy machinery and diesel-powered equipment
• Frequent outdoor work in heat, cold, rain, and wind
• Uneven terrain, dust, mud, and high noise levels
• May involve shop tasks and fieldwork
• PPE must be worn as needed
• Must be comfortable around large equipment and elevated positions
• Lifting heavy materials is often required
• Flexibility is essential as job conditions change rapidly

Travel Required

• Local travel required daily to job sites

Physical Demands

• Requires high physical stamina and mobility
• Frequent lifting, carrying, and maneuvering of tools, chains, tarps, and equipment up to 50+ pounds
• Regular bending, squatting, kneeling, and reaching
• Prolonged standing and walking on uneven surfaces
• Climbing in and out of trucks and onto trailers
• Ability to work from heights on ladders or platforms
• Dexterity for tie-downs, controls, and documentation
• Must safely operate commercial vehicles and remain alert
• Occasional pushing/pulling of heavy materials
