Job description

We are seeking Delivery Drivers (CDL Class A) to join the Atlantic Tire Distributors team in Knoxville, TN. We operate warehouses in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee and are expanding our distribution network.

Summary

As a CDL Driver for Atlantic Tire Distributors, you will safely operate a truck of at least 26,000 pounds Gross Vehicle Weight. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, exceptional driving skills, and a commitment to safety regulations. The driver will be home at the end of each workday.

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities

• Obey traffic laws and follow established traffic and transportation procedures.
• Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew and checking that vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned.
• Perform pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections of trucks and trailers to ensure they are in proper working condition and comply with safety regulations.
• Maintain clear communication with dispatchers, shippers, and receivers to coordinate pickup and delivery schedules and address any issues that may arise during transit.
• Complete required paperwork accurately and timely, including bills of lading, logbooks, and other transportation-related documents.
• Provide excellent customer service by representing the company professionally and courteously when interacting with clients and the public.
• Perform basic maintenance tasks on trucks and trailers, such as checking fluids, inspecting tires, and reporting any mechanical issues to maintenance personnel.
• Handle emergencies and unexpected situations calmly and effectively, such as accidents, breakdowns, or adverse weather conditions, while prioritizing the safety of yourself and others.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant transportation regulations, including weight limits, permit requirements, and hours‑of‑service regulations.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• CDL License: Possess a valid Commercial Driver's License Class A.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and outside weather conditions. The truck may or may not be air‑conditioned/heated seasonally. Drivers may encounter various road conditions, traffic congestion, and inclement weather, including extreme heat, cold, rain, snow, or wind. The employee must regularly lift up to 100 pounds and frequently lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
