Delivery Expert Job Requirements and Duties
  • Must be 18 years of age and have a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record meeting company standards.
  • Must have access to an insured vehicle that can be used for delivery.
  • Possess customer service, navigational, and route planning skills.
  • Must be able to navigate adverse terrain including multi-story buildings.
General Job Duties for All Team Members
  • Stock ingredients from delivery area to storage, work area, and walk-in cooler. Prepare product.
  • Receive and process telephone orders.
  • Take inventory and complete associated paperwork.
  • Clean equipment and facility daily.
Training

Orientation and training provided on the job.

Essential Functions/Skills/Abilities
  • Perform basic math accurately and quickly; may use calculator.

  • Motor coordination between eyes and hands/fingers to rapidly and accurately make precise movements with speed.
  • Enter orders using a computer keyboard or touch screen.
  • Navigate adverse terrain including multi-story buildings, private homes, and other delivery sites while carrying product.
Work Conditions
  • Varying and sometimes adverse weather conditions when performing outside tasks.
  • In-store temperatures range from 36°F in cooler to 90°F and above in some work areas.
  • Sudden changes in temperature in work area and while outside.
  • Fumes from food odors.
  • Exposure to cornmeal dust.
  • Cramped quarters including walk-in cooler.
  • Hot surfaces/tools from oven up to 500°F or higher.
  • Sharp edges and moving mechanical parts.
Sensing
  • Talking and hearing on telephone.
  • Near and mid-range vision for most in-store tasks.
  • Depth perception.
  • Ability to differentiate between hot and cold surfaces.
Temperament

The ability to direct activities, perform repetitive tasks, work alone and with others, work under stress, meet strict quality control standards, deal with people, analyze and compile data, make judgments and decisions.

Physical Requirements
  • Standing: Most tasks are performed from a standing position.
  • Walking: Surfaces include ceramic tile or linoleum in some food process areas. Height of work surfaces is between 36" and 48". Paperwork is normally completed in an office at a desk or table.
  • Lifting: Bulk product deliveries are made twice a week or more and are unloaded using a hand truck. Deliveries may include cases of ingredients and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds. Cases are usually lifted from floor and stacked onto shelves up to 72" high.
  • Carrying: Large cans (3 lbs 7 oz) are carried from the workstation to storage shelves. Occasionally, pizza sauce (30 lbs) is carried from storage to the front of the store. Trays of pizza dough are carried three at a time over short distances, weighing approximately 12 lbs per tray.
  • Pushing: To move trays placed on dollies. A stack of trays on a dolly is approximately 24"–30" and requires a force of up to 7.5 lbs to push. Trays may also be pulled.
  • Climbing: Infrequently navigate stairs or climb a ladder for maintenance tasks. Forward bending at the waist is necessary at the pizza assembly station. Duration of bending is 30–45 seconds at a time, repeated continuously during the day. Forward bending is also present at the front counter and when stocking ingredients.
  • Crouching/Squatting: Occasional activity to stock shelves and clean low areas.
  • Reaching: Continuously up, down, and forward. Workers reach above 72" occasionally to turn oven controls or change sign prices, and lift/lower objects to/from shelves. Workers reach down to scoop cornmeal or wash dishes. Workers reach forward to obtain topping ingredients, clean work surfaces, or answer phones.
  • Hand Tasks: Eye-hand coordination essential. Frequent use of forearms and wrists for shaping pizza dough. Manipulate pizza peel when removing from oven and using rolling cutter. Frequent pinching required in assembling cardboard pizza boxes. Must grasp cans, phone, pizza cutter, peel, and boxes.
  • Machines, Tools, Equipment, Work Aids: Use of pencils, pens, computers, telephones, calculators, TDD equipment, pizza cutter, and peel may be required.

Qualifications
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Have a minimum of the last 2 years licensed driving history in the U.S.; must provide documentation.
  • Have an unsuspended or uninterrupted driving history of at least 1.5 years during the last 2 years (suspension cannot be at the start of the 2-year period).
  • No more than 1 violation and 1 at-fault accident within the last 2 years.
  • No more than 2 violations and 1 at-fault accident within the last 3 years.
  • No more than 3 violations in the last 3 years.
  • No more than 1 at-fault accident in the last 3 years.
  • Moving citations (e.g., speeding, vehicle safety) count as violations; seatbelt and brake light citations do not.
  • No distracted driving/inattentive driving violations within the last 3 years.
  • No serious violations allowed in the past 5 years (e.g., drugs/alcohol, leaving the scene, reckless driving, etc.).
Periodic Delivery Vehicle Inspection

Motor vehicles used for business purposes must have the following items inspected under the supervision of franchisee and store manager at the start of employment and thereafter on a periodic basis:

  • Headlights
  • Tires
  • Rear-view mirror
  • Taillights/Brake lights
  • Brake pressure
  • Windshield wipers
  • Doors
  • Backup lights
  • Horn
  • Safety belt

Any motor vehicle that does not pass the inspection must not be used to operate a motor vehicle for business purposes including making deliveries. These inspections are not intended to replace extensive mechanical inspections by a professional and the vehicle operator is responsible for the safe operating condition of his/her vehicle.
