Job summary

Farmers Furniture in Hudson, NC is seeking a delivery driver/warehouse associate to load/unload, deliver merchandise to customers, and maintain delivery records. The role requires a High School diploma or GED and at least six months in a distribution/warehouse setting, plus a valid driver’s license and DOT compliance.

Training will be provided as needed. The position emphasizes safety, vehicle upkeep, and proper handling of goods, with responsibilities in stocking, setup, and customer service

Responsibilities

• Drive the delivery truck to customer locations and deliver merchandise.

• Ensure vehicle safety and basic maintenance; monitor fuel usage.
• Assist with warehouse duties including stocking, cleanup, and displays.
• Support repossession activities when needed and perform related duties.

Description

The purpose of this classification is to perform work functions associated with delivery and warehouse activities. The person in this classification will load and unload trucks and drive a delivery truck to deliver merchandise to a customer’s home or business.

Essential Functions

• Drive the truck in an assigned zone or area to deliver products purchased by customers; ensure safe operation of the vehicle by assisting delivery truck drivers with directing trucks into unloading areas.
• Load the truck in preparation for daily deliveries; unload merchandise at the customer location and set up as necessary.
• Obtain customer signature on receipt for pickup or delivery.
• Record deliveries on a delivery record and submit to appropriate management.
• Monitor proper maintenance of and regular inspection of vehicles for adherence to safety practices; perform general maintenance of vehicles; record fuel and fluid usage and submit to management.
• Unload merchandise from warehouse and freight trucks.
• Maintain cleanliness of store/warehouse interior and grounds and uphold the company’s Delivery Standards.
• Place stock on shelves or racks and set up merchandise and sales‑promotion displays.
• Assemble merchandise as required.
• Assist with repossessions of goods.
• Perform general maintenance and grounds‑keeping duties for warehouse and/or store.
• Perform customer‑service inspections and/or repairs as needed.
• Perform collection field calls to delinquent customers at the request of management.

• Assist in other store departments as required.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED; six months of experience in a distribution or warehouse environment; or any combination of training, experience, and education which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position. Must possess and maintain a valid State Driver's License and have a general familiarity with the delivery area. Must be able to meet DOT requirements (examples: Medical Examiner's Certification and Driver's DOT qualification file).
