Job summary

Schnucks is seeking a friendly Deli Clerk to join our team in Crestwood, MO. This part-time role offers 30–35 hours weekly and requires availability evenings and weekends.

You will prepare sandwiches, salads, and trays while ensuring top-notch customer service and product quality in a fast-paced deli environment. Responsibilities include food safety adherence, accurate weight and slice control, and maintaining cleanliness and organization.

Qualifications

• Provides friendly and courteous service to customers including phone and in-person interactions.
• Adheres to food safety and sanitation guidelines.
• Maintains a clean work area and proper hygiene.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and operate deli equipment after training.

Responsibilities

• Provide friendly and courteous service to customers, both in person and on the phone at all times
• Maintain a positive work environment
• Maintain cleanliness of work area, equipment, deli cases, and backroom, following company food safety and sanitation guidelines
• Follow proper personal hygiene requirements
• Follow proper time and temperature controls
• Follow good food handling practices to prevent cross-contamination
• Follow proper sanitation principles
• Wear company-approved slip resistant shoes or overshoes at all times
• Practice safe lifting procedures and be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Wear provided personal protective equipment when required
• Be able to safely operate powered equipment once trained
• Understand safe handling procedures with knives and other sharp utensils
• Slice and weigh lunch meats and cheeses, ensuring proper slice thickness as requested
• Establish product knowledge and assist with cross-selling and sampling
• Fill/rotate/date products for the display case
• Operate deli slicers, scales and wrapping equipment
• Utilize cooking equipment including fryers, rotisserie ovens and steamers
• Prepare sandwiches, party trays, salads and special orders per recipes
• Restock and rotate products to maintain freshness
• Multi-task while keeping customer first
• Maintain reliable attendance
• Assist with other duties as assigned
• Offer product samples to customers
• Adhere to safety, health, and weights and measures regulations; monitor temperatures and report issues
• Answer phone and take special orders with courtesy
