Job summary

The Fresh Market in Durham, NC is seeking a Deli Specialist to uphold deli department excellence, ensure product freshness and proper rotation, and support merchandising and promotions. You will engage guests with friendly service, maintain accurate signage, and assist with inventory and receiving tasks.

Candidate should have 1+ years in retail or hospitality, be detail-oriented, and able to work a flexible schedule including weekends.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience in retail, grocery, restaurant, or hospitality operations.
• Strong attention to detail with organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Ensure deli products meet freshness and quality standards, including rotation and dating.
• Execute planograms and maintain product placement and signage.
• Coordinate with leadership on ordering and replenishment of deli items.
• Verify deliveries for accuracy and freshness and proper receiving/storage.
• Support guest engagement and department readiness for promotions and seasonal events.
• Follow all policies, food safety requirements, and sanitation procedures.

What You'll Do:

Availability:

This position requires the willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, days, evenings, and holidays.

Qualifications:

At a minimum, what you’ll need:

• 1+ years of experience in retail, grocery, restaurant, or hospitality operations.
• Strong attention to detail with organizational skills, ability to multitask, and work at a fast pace.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Preferred Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Retail, culinary, and/or grocery experience.
• Experience with electronic shelf label systems, inventory management technology, or AI-enabled retail tools.

Physical and Work Conditions:

• Repetitive hand/arm movements, grasping, bending, reaching, ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds by oneself, and exposure to extreme temperatures.
• Ability to use tools and equipment: knives, ladders, stepstools, box cutters, pallet jacks, and other equipment.
• Required to spend long periods of time on their feet and stand or walk without a break (for up to 4 hours or as required by law).
• Required to wear an approved hat, hair net, and/or beard guard, and personal protective equipment.
