Position

Title: Deli Sales. Full Time. First (Day) and Second (Afternoon) shifts. Location: 800 W. Broadway St., Missoula, US, MT, 59802.

Pay: $13.25 – $20.75 per hour.

Tasks of Position

• Reporting for assigned shifts on time, communicating clearly, and demonstrating suitable physical abilities to safely perform assigned tasks.
• Promoting sales through active discussions with guests, offering product recommendations, and discussing current promotions and service information.
• Providing exceptional service by greeting guests, informing them of special features, product information, and services offered by the deli, including delivering, slicing to order, reducing packaging size of sandwiches, offering free samples, and making sandwiches to order.
• Preparing food for daily business as assigned, making assorted coffee drinks, portioning and weighing salads, hot entrees, meat, cheese, or other food items, placing food in appropriate containers or bags, closing, opening, filling cases, facing cases, stacking product types, and using “This One’s On Us” cards to “Make Our Guests Crazy About Us!”
• Operating equipment (at minimum) including: com‑line, phone, scales, shrink wrapper, slicer, dishwasher, combi‑oven, blender, coffee brewer, grill (where available), lights in case, rotisserie (where available), espresso machine, cash register, knives, and fryer.
• Communicating and completing guests’ special order requests with accuracy and timeliness.
• Mentoring new associates or associates new to the department or task and assuring a positive learning environment.
• Finding a way to make our guests happy.
• Ensuring all work performed in the department complies with local, state, federal, and company rules, regulations, and policies regarding workplace safety, food handling safety, sanitation/housekeeping standards, and guest services.
• Participating actively in the Deli Department’s accident reduction plan, including monitoring drains, combi‑ovens, fryers, hood traps, vent traps, and grills, cleaning floors of spills immediately, and recognizing shelf order, safety features of all machinery, store evacuation plan, robbery policy, health codes for sanitizers, case temperatures, gloves, ice scoop, sink regulations, and storing regulations.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This job has no formal supervisory responsibilities; however, each Yoke’s associate has a shared opportunity to be a leader on the job.

Qualifications

• Education and/or Experience – High school diploma or GED; one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Language Skills – Reads and comprehends simple instructions, short correspondence and memos; writes simple correspondence; communicates effectively and pleasantly with guests, vendors and fellow associates at all times.
• Mathematical Skills – Performs calculations using U.S. money and weight measurement, volume.
• Reasoning Ability – Applies common sense to carry out instructions in written or oral form; manages problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Other Qualifications – Meets the state minimum requirement to work with slicers or other deli equipment and tools.
• Certificates & Licenses – Valid State Food Handlers Permit; Valid Driver’s License or State I.D. Card.
• Yoke’s Provided Training – Active Shooter; Deli Skills Training levels One, Two, and Three; Food Handler’s Safety Training; HIPAA Training; Late Night Retail Safety Training; Yoke’s Safety Orientation Training / Active Shooter; Yoke’s Guest Service Training & Commitment; (Optional: Hepatitis A vaccination provided by Yoke’s Pharmacy).

Physical Demands & Safety Expectations

Most positions within Yoke’s require physical effort to varying degrees. Associates are expected to practice Yoke’s safety standards at all times, including the use of personal protective equipment when required, understanding ergonomic safety, chemical hazards, safe lifting techniques, lockout/tag‑out procedures, and emergency protocol. All associates must report accidents within 24 hours. Physical demands include standing for prolonged periods, walking, using hands and fingers, handling objects, reaching with hands and arms, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, tasting, smelling, talking, and hearing. Associates must continuously lift or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

The work environment is characterized by moving mechanical parts, occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, and moderate noise level. Associates must follow all safety procedures and protocols.
