Responsibilities

• Receive Deli merchandise and verify accuracy, quality, and temperature on arrival.
• Report discrepancies to Managers and Buyers; maintain ordering/receiving consistency.
• Order product based on par/movement to minimize shrink.
• Notify Deli Leadership of stock issues and out-of-stocks.
• Keep back stock organized and rotate products.
• Record shrink/waste as instructed and maintain shelf stock.
• Assist customers after receiving/ordering duties as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Store or Deli Management.

Job description

Woodlands Market, Marin and San Francisco's premier gourmet grocery store, has openings for Deli Receiver Superstars! If you are fast, friendly, accurate and reliable this is the perfect position for you!

Deli receivers are responsible for accurately and efficiently checking in and putting away product in the proper location. Keeping track of inventory and ordering product based on usage, adjusting as necessary in order to maintain stock and limit waste. Deli receivers are encouraged to build relationships and converse with guests while keeping focused on rotating inventory. In order to give great service, you must know what you are stocking and receiving, which means that you must know or learn products quickly to be a Woodlands deli receiver.

Function:

• Receive Deli merchandise; verify accuracy and completeness of order, inspecting it for quality, quantity, and safety (temperature)
• Report any receiving discrepancies to Manager(s) and Buyer(s); build and maintain consistency for ordering/receiving processes
• Order product based on par/movement keeping shrink to a minimum
• Communicate out of stocks or any product issues with Deli Leadership
• Keep any back stock organized
• Rotate products and pull any out-of-date products
• Record all shrink/waste as instructed
• Stock shelves with product, usually in very early morning hours.
• Assist customers when you are finished receiving/ordering duties or when requested by Store or Deli Leadership.
• Maintain product levels, restock and organize as necessary.
• Assist with resets to accommodate new products frequently.
• Receive product orders using handheld system tools, fax, and printer
• Maintain an excellent working relationship with Buyers, Vendors, Customers and Managers to ensure a smooth and complete ordering and receiving process
• Maintain courteous relationships with drivers, suppliers and employees
• Follow all applicable health and sanitation procedures including food safety guidelines as they pertain to receiving practices
• Perform other duties as assigned by Store or Deli Management

Required Skills:

• Must be detail oriented and have excellent follow through to ensure the receiving process runs smoothly
• Must be comfortable working in a fast paced environment with the ability to adjust to the constant demands of a high volume location
• Ability to work in a highly interdependent work flow process where each segment of a process relies heavily on the other parts
• Ability to follow instructions
• Ability to work independently yet have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with others
• Ability to knowledgeably communicate with product, supply and service vendors.
• Ability to perform simple math operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
• Must be able to communicate and read in English.
• Ability to maintain professional and appropriate conduct with all business partners & suppliers.

Experience:

• Prior experience in retail, grocery, or receiving preferred.
