Job summary

Kroger is seeking a dedicated Deli Team Member to create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service in a fast-paced store environment. You will assist the department manager in achieving sales and profit goals while maintaining safety, quality, and cleanliness that keeps customers returning.

You will slice deli meats and cheeses, stock and label items, answer customer questions, and support daily deli operations.

Assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals established for the department, and monitor all established quality assurance standards. Assist in directing and supervising all functions, duties and activities for the department. Support the day-to-day functions of the Deli operations. • Slice deli meats and cheeses to customers’ requests using proper deli equipment.
• Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
• Inform customers of deli specials.
• Provide customers with fresh products that they have ordered and the correct portion size (or as close as possible to the amount ordered) to prevent shrink.
• Recommend deli items to customers to ensure they get the products they want and need.
• Order, label, stock and inventory department merchandise.
• Use all equipment in the department such as the fryer, rotisserie, heat lamps, refrigerators, freezers, slicers, ovens, compactors, balers, and pallet jacks according to company guidelines.
• Prepare foods according to the food temperature logs and follow cooking instructions.
• Display a positive attitude.
• Understand the store’s layout and be able to locate products.
• Inform and educate department associates about current, upcoming and special in-store promotions especially promotions that affect the Deli.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
• Assist in monitoring and controlling expenses for the department.
• Maintain an awareness of inventory/stocking conditions note any discrepancies in inventory.
• Schedule daily, weekly and monthly price changes by updating shelf tags and promotional signs..
• Plan, organize and supervise the inventory process.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and temperature logs are maintained.
• Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identify unsafe conditions and notify store management.
• Practice preventive maintenance by properly inspecting equipment and notify appropriate department or store manager of any items in need of repair.
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
• Report all safety risks, or issues, and illegal activity, including: robbery, theft or fraud.
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
