Job summary

SpartanNash is seeking a retail operations professional to lead merchandising across assigned stores, drive category performance, and assist in new store openings or remodels. You will collaborate with store managers to implement assortment, pricing, promotions, and shelf placement.

The role requires an Associate's Degree and 3 years of merchandising/retail management, plus strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills. Travel up to 75% is required.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Oversee assigned retail stores to meet sales and profitability through merchandising plans.
• Ensure implementation of category and merchandising plans including assortment, pricing, promotions, and shelf placement.
• Support store operations, inventory control, safety, and policy adherence.
• Analyze store performance vs. budget and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Collaborate with Marketing, Merchandising, and Promotions to execute advertising plans and store promotions.
• Coach and train retail department associates; align duties with productivity standards.
• Stay updated on industry trends and best merchandising practices; suggest program improvements.
• Other duties as assigned.

Position Summary:

This role is responsible to provide direction and support to retail department managers to drive category performance and achieve sales, growth and profitability objectives. Monitor and access store performance, develop and implement new processes, procedures and programs to increase productivity, and assist in new and re-model store opening, set-up, training and operations.

Here’s what you’ll do:

• Responsible for assigned retail stores to meet and deliver established sales and profitability through merchandising plans and processes.
• Ensure the successful and consistent implementation of category business plans and merchandising plans in collaboration with department management; plans include the areas of assortment, pricing, promotion and shelf placement.
• Participate in the operational execution of retail policies, plans and programs in areas of inventory and asset management, merchandising, facilities maintenance, safety and security.
• Monitor and access assigned retail stores performance vs. budgeted goals and objective; analyze and identify opportunities for improvements and assist to develop strategies that position stores to perform at or above budget levels.
• Responsible to work with assigned group of stores to manage and control the location(s) operations to ensure consistency with Company standards, policy and expectations.
• Collaborate with internal departments (i.e., Marketing, Merchandising, Promotions, etc.) to support consistent execution of approved advertising plans and store promotions.
• Responsible for providing coaching, training, direction and support to retail department associates.
• Instruct and align associates' functions and duties to meet the productivity standards.
• Maintain current knowledge of industry trends and best merchandising practices; make recommendations to improve current programs and processes.
• Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Here’s what you’ll need:

• Associate's Degree (Required) Marketing, Business Administration or other related field or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
• Three years' experience in merchandising or management in a retail setting.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to develop positive working relationships with both internal and external customers.
• Strong organizational, prioritization, project management and analytical skills.
• Ability to provide work direction to associates and coordinate team workload.
• Ability to drive, develop and execute new programs to create sales and profits for future growth.
• Basic knowledge of retail stores and grocery department functions.
• Ability to maintain a strong customer focus and a high degree of professionalism when dealing with internal customers and leaders.
• Strong proficiency in MS office applications (i.e., Word, Excel, etc.).
• Ability to travel up to 75% to retail locations to include local and overnight travel.
