Job summary

Wadsworth Buehler's Fresh Foods is seeking a Deli Lead to supervise the deli team and ensure exceptional service in-store and in our dining area.

You will work closely with the Food Service Manager and Deli Support to maintain freshness, sanitation, and accurate product displays while handling hiring, training, and scheduling.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age.
• Able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lb (occasionally 80 lb).
• Experience in deli or kitchen environment preferred.
• Strong customer service and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Supervise deli staff to ensure exceptional customer service and greet customers.
• Maintain high standards for freshness and sanitation.
• Train and onboard staff; manage retention and performance.
• Manage product ordering, storage, and display rotation.
• Support Restaurant, Catering and Specialty areas with special orders.
• Operate slicer and other food service equipment.

Job description

The Buehler’s Deli Lead is a key position within our Food Service Operations. In addition to managing the deli, this position has the opportunity to support Food Service Operations. The Deli Lead works closely with their Food Service Manager, Assistant Deli Lead and Deli Support team to make sure that the customer has an exceptional experience either while shopping in our store or dining in our restaurant. Signing Bonus: The successful candidate must complete six months in the hired role to be eligible for the signing bonus.

A typical day for a Deli Lead may include

• Supervise staff to ensure they maintain exceptional customer service including greeting customers as well as answering questions
• Maintain Buehler’s high standards for freshness and sanitation
• Provide knowledge to staff so they in turn can sell product by providing information the customer needs to make product-related decisions
• Responsible for employee hiring, onboarding, training and retention
• Responsible for employee recognition and employee relations
• Fill, maintain, and rotate products and displays
• Support Restaurant, Catering and Specialty areas with special orders and party trays
• Responsible for product ordering, storage and inventory
• Operate the slicer and other commercial food service equipment

• Attain at least 18 years of age
• Able to occasionally be required to stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push and pull items weighing 50# and occasionally 80#
• Manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills; and the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures; and can do simple math problems
• Able to work within our deli/kitchen environment that includes equipment such as an oven, stove, dishwasher, slicer, coffee machine, steamer, mixer and chef’s knives…so frequently you will be exposed to heat, steam, fire and noise
