Job summary

Jimmy Jazz in Wisconsin is looking for a Deli Clerk to join the team. You will provide fresh deli meats, cheeses, salads, soups, and hot deli options with friendly, attentive service.

The position is full-time and non-exempt, with a 40-hour work week, including weekends and holidays. HS diploma and food safety certification within 90 days are preferred; ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods is required.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Food Safety Certification required within 90 days of employment.
• Must be patient and helpful to exceed the customer’s expectations.
• Must possess basic computer skills to operate scanners, registers, calculators, etc.
• Must be able to follow verbal and written directions in regard to paperwork and daily reporting.

Responsibilities

• Serve customers throughout the store while modeling a service-oriented culture and providing “best in class” customer service, which includes, greeting, engaging, and thanking every guest for their business.
• Promote a positive culture and ensure effective communication.
• Follow the production schedule to determine quantity and variety of goods to make based on the Deli Manager’s recommendations.
• Properly prepare, package and price deli products to sell to our customers.
• Ensure that the deli case is always full and fresh with the best quality products.
• Use all equipment in the deli including refrigerators, slicers, ovens, stoves, mixers, etc. Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to safety/sanitation regulations and procedures.
• Walk department regularly to ensure an organized, sanitary, and overall clean appearance at all times.
• Provide consistent, timely and friendly customer service when answering questions, making recommendations and promoting products through suggestive selling.
• Reports to work at the assigned/scheduled time and may be required to fill in as needed in other customer facing roles
• Performs other duties as required.

TheDeli Clerk will work within the Deli by providing our valued customers with fresh cut deli meats, cheese, salads, soups, hot deli offerings and more. All duties will be performed in a manner that will help achieve the Medford Cooperative’s mission and goals.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience Required:

• HS Diploma or equivalent preferred


• Food Safety Certification required within 90 days of employment


• Must be patient and helpful to exceed the customer’s expectations.

Skills and Abilities Required:

• Able to lift up to 50 lbs. as required and 20 lbs. frequently


• Must be able to lift, twist, bend, stoop, squat, stand, reach, pull, push and lift overhead.


• Fast-paced environment requiring standing up to 8 hours per day.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Position requires this candidate to work 40 hour per week in this full-time position.


• Schedule includes weekends and holidays, flexibility is essential.

• This position is primarily indoors but at times may be exposed to heat/cool outdoor temperatures as well as when entering coolers.
