Job summary

Jewel-Osco in Chicago is seeking a Deli Clerk to prepare fresh foods and create a welcoming customer experience. You will help customers choose from deli meats, cheeses, hot foods, and grab‑and‑go items while maintaining a friendly service pace.

The role involves slicing meats, assembling and portioning deli products, stocking displays, and upholding food safety and sanitation standards in a busy retail setting. Previous food service or customer service experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Ability to operate slicers and food preparation equipment following training and safety guidelines.
• Basic math skills for weighing, portioning, and transactions.
• Availability to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Prior food service or customer service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers with deli selections and create a welcoming experience.
• Slice meats, assemble, and portion deli products for grab‑and‑go options.
• Keep display cases stocked with deli meats, cheeses, and prepared foods.
• Maintain food safety, sanitation, and company procedures.
• Process transactions with accuracy and use register systems where applicable.
