Job summary

The Kroger Co. is seeking a Deli Clerk to create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service while maintaining a safe, clean environment.

You will assist the department manager in achieving sales and profit goals, while upholding Kroger’s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety. As a Deli team member, you will support daily operations, help customers with requests, and maintain quality standards across deli items.

Qualifications

• Outstanding customer service skills.
• Desire to understand food production and basic cooking techniques.
• Effective communication and teamwork.
• Strong work ethic for fast-paced environments.
• Good math basics.
• Ability to obtain current food handler permit on hire.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food items for the cold case, fresh pack, salad, and hot bars per customer requests.
• Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients using kitchen utensils and equipment such as fryers and slicers.
• Ensure all deli items are labeled, dated, rotated, and monitored for quality and freshness.
• Gain knowledge of products sold and respond to customer questions with suggestions.
• Provide excellent customer service and apply suggestive selling when appropriate.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Perform other duties as assigned by store leadership.
