Job summary

Houchens Food Group is seeking a Deli Clerk to rotate, stock, price, package, and prepare deli products while maintaining cleanliness and safety in a fast-paced environment.

You will handle loading/unloading deliveries, operate equipment safely, and work in temperature-controlled areas. Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand/walk for long periods is required.

Responsibilities

• Rotates, stocks and straightens merchandise and supplies.
• Correctly prices all merchandise according to departmental guidelines.
• Wraps and packages using the correct size tray and wrap or container.
• Performs basic housekeeping duties using available equipment.
• Operates required tools and equipment safely.
• Cleans deli-bakery tools and equipment.
• Prepares bakery/deli products following proper procedures.
• Standing or walking at a rapid pace for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Receives and unloads truck deliveries using equipment and guidelines.
• Ability to lift and move items weighing over 50 pounds.
• Work in temperature extremes (frozen foods and storage cooler -10 degrees).
• Orders product according to guidelines in the absence of deli manager.
• Other duties as assigned

JOB DESCRIPTION: DELI CLERK

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Rotates, stocks and straightens merchandise and supplies.
• Correctly prices all merchandise according to departmental guidelines
• Follows proper wrapping and packaging procedure; including the use of the correct size tray and plastic wrap &/or container
• Performs basic housekeeping duties using available equipment, (mops, brooms, floor scrubbing and buffing machines, etc.).
• Operates all required tools and equipment in a safe manner except when restricted due to age; follows all safety policies and procedures
• Cleans all required deli-bakery department tools and equipment
• Follows proper procedure for producing all bakery/deli products
• Standing and/or walking at a rapid pace for extended periods of time to perform essential job functions.
• Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds

SECONDARY JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Maintains a neat and clean work area.
• Performs all essential job functions at an acceptable level of speed and accuracy
• Perform all job functions with limited supervision
• May be required to decorate cakes
• Receives and unloads truck deliveries using available equipment and according to established guidelines.
• Ability to lift and move items weighing over 50 pounds
• Ability to work in temperature extremes, (frozen foods & storage cooler maximum low temperature, -10 degrees).
• Orders product according to established guidelines in the absence of deli manager
• Other duties as assigned
