Job summary

Meijer Inc. is seeking a dedicated team member to support daily store operations in Ohio. You will engage customers and teammates, supervise daily tasks, and coach others to achieve sales and service goals while maintaining Meijer standards.

The role involves duties across checkout, stocking, and safety, with opportunities to lead in other departments as needed. The candidate should demonstrate strong communication, a proactive attitude, and the ability to work in a fast-paced retail

Qualifications

• Passion for customer service and total engagement with customers and peers.
• Initiates interactions with customers and teammates.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; retail or customer service experience preferred.
• Creative thinking, influencing others, and quickly building rapport to drive repeat business.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, bend and twist while handling product.
• Experience executing plans and maintaining a strong, productive team environment.

Responsibilities

• Engage peers to provide the best possible shopping experience for customers including an exceptional checkout experience.
• Communicate with team members and assign daily work tasks.
• Mentor and coach team members to exceed customer service and sales goals and maintain Meijer standards.
• Support training of new team members and cross-train high-potential talent.
• Collaborate with leadership on department schedule writing to improve engagement and profitability.
• Ensure product freshness by monitoring rotation and dating policies.
• Guide the team in food-safety standards and safe working practices.
• Lead ordering, receiving, stocking, pricing, and product display where applicable.
• Create an environment that supports Meijer culture, diversity, equity and inclusion.
• Operate a register and handle cash when needed.
• Operate powered equipment where applicable.
• Participate in period-end inventories to help achieve goals.
• May act in Lead capacity in other departments as required.
