Job summary

Kroger in Blue Ash, OH is seeking a customer-focused associate to assist the deli/bakery team. You will help customers, prepare fresh deli products, slice goods, stock, and maintain safety and quality standards on site at 4100 Hunt Rd.

This role emphasizes service, accuracy, and teamwork within a fast-paced store environment. The position requires basic math skills, at least 18 years old, and the ability to speak a second language.

Qualifications

  • Ability to handle stressful situations.
  • Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Second language (speaking, reading and/or writing).

Responsibilities

  • Promote trust and respect among associates.

  • Gain and maintain knowledge of products and respond to questions and make suggestions.
  • Slice deli meats and cheeses to customers' requests using proper deli equipment.
  • Offer product samples and inform customers of deli/bakery/bistro specials.
  • Provide customers with fresh products prepared to order and in correct portion size.
  • Recommend deli/bakery/bistro items to customers.
  • Use all equipment in deli/bakery/bistro per guidelines.
  • Prepare food to company standards.
  • Adequately prepare, package, label and inventory ingredients.
  • Check product quality and review sell by dates.
  • Label, stock and inventory department merchandise.
  • Report discrepancies to the department manager.
  • Display a positive attitude.
  • Stay current with ads and promotions.
  • Adhere to food safety regulations.
  • Maintain proper temperatures and logs.
  • Report safety risks and incidents.
  • Maintain equipment and report repairs.
  • Notify management of accidents and safety issues.

  • Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and be able to respond to questions and make suggestions about products.
  • Slice deli meats and cheeses to customer's requests using proper deli equipment.
  • Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products for which they inquire about.
    Inform customers of deli/bakery/bistro specials.
  • Provide customers with fresh products that they have ordered and the correct portion size (or as close as possible to the amount ordered) to prevent shrink.
  • Recommend deli/bakery/bistro items to customers to ensure they get the products they want and need.
  • Use all equipment in deli/bakery/bistro such as the refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to company guidelines.
  • Prepare food to company standards.
  • Adequately prepare, package, label and inventory ingredients in merchandise.
  • Check product quality to ensure freshness. Review "sell by" dates and take appropriate action.
  • Properly use kitchen equipment, stove, computerized scale, fryer, steamer, robot coupe and all other equipment within the department.
  • Label, stock and inventory department merchandise.
  • Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
  • Display a positive attitude.
  • Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and temperature logs are maintained.
  • Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identify unsafe conditions and notify store management.
  • Practice preventive maintenance by properly inspecting equipment and notify appropriate department or store manager of any items in need of repair.
  • Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
  • Report all safety risk, or issues, and illegal activity, including: robbery, theft or fraud.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in high paced and sometimes stressful environment.
  • Ability to manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational and cooperative manner.
  • Ability to act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  • Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues.
  • Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
