J.A.V. Food Corp d/b/a Agata & Valentina in New York, NY is seeking a dependable Deli Associate who enjoys working with customers and takes pride in food quality.

You will assist customers, prepare and package deli products, label and weigh items, and keep the counter clean and well organized in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Full-time, in-person role offering $17–$18 per hour.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years deli or related customer service experience preferred.

Position Summary

Agata & Valentina, a specialty food market in New York City, is seeking a dependable and customer-focused Deli Associate to join our team. The Deli Associate is responsible for assisting customers, preparing and packaging deli products, maintaining departmental standards, and supporting a clean, organized, and efficient work environment. This is a hands-on role in a busy food retail setting, ideal for someone who enjoys working with customers, takes pride in food quality, and can work well as part of a team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist customers with deli selections, preparation questions, special requests, and product
• recommendations.
• Prepare, package, label, weigh, and rotate deli products according to department standards.
• Restock displays throughout the shift, checking product freshness, expiration dates, signage, and overall presentation.
• Use scales, slicers, utensils, and other department equipment safely and properly after training.
• Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of the deli counter, workstations, equipment, and surrounding areas.
• Follow company procedures, food safety requirements, and Department of Health guidelines.
• Assist with receiving and inspecting incoming products for quality, quantity, and spoilage.
• Communicate customer concerns, product issues, or department needs to the Department Manager or Assistant Department Manager.
• Maintain reliable attendance and availability for scheduled shifts, holidays, extended hours, and occasional shift coverage when needed.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

• 1–2 years of deli, food service, grocery, or related customer service experience preferred; however, we are willing to train the right candidate with strong customer service skills, and a positive attitude.
• Customer service experience preferred.
• Friendly, professional, and team-oriented approach.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced customer service environment.
• Attention to detail when preparing, weighing, labeling, stocking, and rotating products.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during the shift.
