Job summary

SRS Distribution Inc. is seeking a Delivery Helper to load, stage, and deliver building materials from our Fredericksburg operation. You will assist crews, secure loads, and help prepare trucks for daily routes, all while following OSHA and DOT safety guidelines.

The role requires the ability to work outdoors, lift up to 100 lbs, and communicate effectively with customers and team members. This on-site position offers overtime potential and a comprehensive benefits package.

Job description

Position Purpose

The primary functions of the Delivery Helper are to load materials, locate jobsites, assist with backing procedures, prepare and restore jobsites, prepare the truck for the following day, and maintain the truck and equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Comply with company, state, and federal guidelines, particularly as they relate to OSHA and DOT requirements for the safety of all personnel.
• Perform pre-trip inspections of equipment, paperwork, and loaded product to ensure order accuracy.
• Safely unload product and deliver materials to the assigned area as directed by the customer.
• Secure mud, equipment, metal, pallets, and other materials on the truck.
• Navigate routes to jobsites.

Direct Manager/Direct Reports

Reports to the department manager. No direct reports.

Travel Requirements

Frequent local travel to customer jobsites as part of daily delivery operations.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to remain standing 90% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation. Constantly move while unloading materials from commercial motor vehicles onto jobsites, with or without reasonable accommodation. Constantly position oneself to load and unload materials from flatbed or boom trucks, with or without reasonable accommodation. Frequently move materials weighing up to 100 lbs. while unloading and loading flatbed trucks, with or without reasonable accommodation. Must be able to communicate with management and coworkers and exchange accurate information, with or without reasonable accommodation. Constantly work in an outdoor environment while making deliveries, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Working Conditions

Works primarily in outdoor jobsites and customer locations. Regular exposure to varying weather conditions, dust, noise, moving equipment, and other conditions common to construction supply and building materials operations.

Minimum Qualifications

Ability to read, write, and communicate information accurately. Ability to safely load, unload, and handle building materials. Ability to follow safety procedures and work instructions. Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in construction, building materials, delivery, warehouse, or a related industry. Familiarity with material handling and jobsite safety practices.

Minimum Education

High school diploma or GED preferred.

The base salary for this position typically falls within the range of $0.00 to $25.00 per hour. Starting wage may vary based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, the position being offered, location, education, training, and/or experience. SRS Distribution offers additional competitive and non-financial benefits. Hourly associates may be eligible for overtime based on business needs. Depending on the role, associates may also be eligible for performance-based bonus programs, commissions, car allowance or automobile and fuel program, and reimbursement for travel expenses in accordance with company travel policy.
