Job summary

UIC Government Services and the Bowhead Family of Companies seeks a Mechanical Engineer (AT) to support manufacturing projects on-site in Indian Head, MD. The role combines hands-on mechanical work with maintenance of equipment, requiring strong CAD skills and experience with GD&T and FEA.

You will work across multi-disciplinary teams, develop test plans and technical reports, and interface with government personnel. A Secret clearance is required; relocation/support may be provided as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in mechanical engineering.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD tools (Creo, SolidWorks).
• Experience with engineering drawings including GD&T and design for manufacturing.
• Strong problem-solving and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
• Excellent communication and technical writing skills.
• Familiarity with MIL-STD, ASTM, ISO standards.
• Experience with finite element analysis (FEA).

Responsibilities

• Provide highly technical expertise to solve complex engineering problems.
• Perform all phases of hardware design, development, integration, and analysis.
• Plan and conduct feasibility studies for design improvements and advanced technologies.
• Develop standards and guidelines for tasks performed.
• Interface with government personnel.
