Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a PhD-level researcher to design and build multimodal reasoning models for Edge AI. You will collaborate with experts across AI domains, evaluate transformer-based models, and contribute to research publications.

Prototyping in Python with PyTorch/TensorFlow and applying knowledge-distillation are key responsibilities. The role involves full research lifecycle work, including data collection, preprocessing, model training, and rigorous evaluation, with about 10% travel.

Qualifications

• PhD in AI-related fields such as NLP, CV, or related discipline.
• Strong publication record in NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, ACL, NAACL, EMNLP, CVPR, or AAAI.
• Proficiency in building and evaluating transformer-based models.
• Expertise in supervised fine-tuning and post-training techniques for reasoning models.
• Experience with multimodal reasoning models combining text, audio, and video data.
• Familiarity with Chain-of-Thought reasoning and its applications in LLMs.
• Experience with multimodal reasoning frameworks and integrating text, images, audio, and video.

• Collaborate with experts in AI, NLP, audio, time series, and other domains
• Build and evaluate deep learning models for multimodal classification and reasoning tasks
• Engage in the full research lifecycle, including stakeholder discussions, data collection, annotation, preprocessing, model training, and rigorous evaluation
• Prototype models in Python using PyTorch or TensorFlow
• Implement mid-training and post-training improvements for multimodal models
• Apply knowledge-distillation techniques to transfer reasoning capabilities from larger models to smaller, efficient models
• Document experiments and results through internal reports, blog posts, and publications in conferences and workshops

Requirements

• PhD in AI-related fields such as NLP, Computer Vision, Speech Processing, or related discipline
• Strong publication record in top-tier venues such as NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, ACL, NAACL, EMNLP, CVPR, or AAAI
• Proficiency in building and evaluating transformer-based models
• Expertise in supervised fine-tuning and post-training techniques for reasoning models
• Experience with multimodal reasoning models combining text, audio, and video data
• Familiarity with Chain-of-Thought reasoning and its applications in LLMs
• Experience with multimodal reasoning frameworks and integrating text, images, audio, and video
• Familiarity with agentic reasoning systems, task orchestration, LangChain, and LangGraph
• Know-how of reinforcement learning approaches for reasoning models, such as GRPO
• Strong understanding of LLM evaluation techniques

• Required travel: 10% of the time
