DeBordieu’s Parkland course, which initially opened in March 1987, was most recently renovated in 2014 and plays to 7,261 yards from the Championship tees and offers six sets of tees which provide enjoyable golf for players of all abilities. Noted as one of the designers' favorite designs, DeBordieu has consistently been ranked among the top private clubs in South Carolina. Over the years, DeBordieu Club has been host to many regional championships to include the Carolinas Mid-Amateur, Women’s State Amateur, U.S. Open local qualifying, and much more!

Job Summary

The Golf Cart Attendant plays a crucial role in ensuring a seamless and enjoyable experience for members and guests. Working closely with the Assistant Golf Professional and other staff, this position focuses on exceptional service, efficient cart operations, and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organization. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, professional, and adaptable to the needs of the Club, including flexible scheduling and extended hours when necessary.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Greets members and guests warmly, providing excellent customer service and answering questions about the course and facilities.
  • Cleans, inspects, maintains, stages, and stores golf carts, ensuring they are charged, stocked, and rotated for even use.
  • Collects, washes, and organizes range balls; restocks dispensers; and maintains a clean, orderly driving range area.
  • Assists with tournament and event preparations, including cart staging and range setup.
  • Keeps work areas, including the cart barn and staging areas, clean and organized.
  • Conducts routine inspections of carts and equipment, addressing issues or reporting significant concerns to management.
  • Manages player traffic to ensure smooth operations and adherence to club policies.
  • Communicates with Pro Shop staff regarding course updates, player issues, and supply needs.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned to support overall golf operations.
  • Maintains high standard of personal appearance and grooming, which includes wearing proper and complete uniform.
  • Maintains regular attendance as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the Golf Pro Shop.
  • Actively demonstrates, encourages, and models safety rules and guidance with the law.
  • Reports safety or hazard concerns and/or any work-related injury to management.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Required to stand for long periods and walks, climbs stairs, balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, bends, stretches and twists or reaches.
  • Pushes, pulls or lifts up to 50 pounds and stand for 6-8 hours.
  • Continuous repetitive motions.
  • This position requires working outdoors in moderate to varying weather conditions and may involve exposure to moderate noise levels, especially during events. Reasonable accommodations can be made for individuals with disabilities.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Knowledge of golf protocol preferred.
  • Minimum age: 16 years.
  • Country Club or Golf Club experience is a plus but not required.
  • Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • CPR/AED and/or First Aid Certification a plus.
