Job summary

UC San Diego seeks an experienced Dean of the Division of Undergraduate Education to provide strategic, campus-wide leadership for undergraduate teaching and learning across colleges, divisions, schools, and disciplines.

The Dean will advance excellence, equity, and innovation in undergraduate education, shaping initiatives, programs, and policies that improve student success and access while aligning resources with UC San Diego's academic mission.

Qualifications

• Earned doctorate or terminal degree.
• A distinguished record of teaching, scholarship, and service appropriate for an appointment as a tenured full professor in one of the university's schools, which span the disciplines of the arts and humanities; the social, natural, marine, and data sciences; engineering, management, medicine, pharmacy, public policy, and public health.
• Proven experience as a senior academic administrator.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic leadership in the development, enhancement, and delivery of undergraduate academic programs-including new interdisciplinary programs, across colleges, divisions, schools, and disciplines. Promote curriculum innovation and reform and strengthen academic support services for undergraduate students.
• Serve as the campus Accreditation Liaison Officer (ALO) with WASC and lead reaffirmation reviews; advise on academic policy changes.
• Lead and participate on task forces and committees to develop short and long-range academic planning initiatives for undergraduate education.
• Oversee the operation of undergraduate colleges, including governance and coordination of advising, student success initiatives, and program assessment.
• Coordinate with Career Services and academic advisors to provide holistic advising and support for undergraduate students.
