Job summary

Maya Angelou Schools / See Forever Foundation seeks a Dean of Students and Restorative Justice Coordinator to lead a positive, inclusive school culture at DC’s Youth Services Center. The role focuses on restorative practices, behavior management, and scholar well-being, reporting to the Principal and collaborating with teachers, counselors, and families.

The incumbent will train staff, support teachers with classroom management, and oversee student engagement, incentives, and culture initiatives

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field (required).
• Master's degree in a related field (preferred).
• Experience working with at-risk youth in an educational environment.
• Strong understanding of restorative practices, positive behavior interventions, social-emotional learning, and equity-driven practices.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to establish and maintain a positive, thriving school culture.
• Develop and implement strategies for an inclusive school culture aligned with the school’s values.
• Design and implement a behavior management system emphasizing restorative practices and character development.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to address behavioral issues and provide staff training.
• Foster a positive learning environment where scholars feel valued and supported, and mediate conflicts.
• Collaborate with families, counselors, and administrators to align expectations and interventions.
• Monitor behavior trends and use data to drive continuous improvement in school climate.
