The Dean of Students provides strategic leadership for student care services, student conduct and academic integrity, behavioral intervention and threat assessment, Title IX prevention education, conflict resolution, and student development initiatives. The position directs the operations of the Dean of Students Office, oversees programs and services that promote student accountability and campus safety, ensures compliance with applicable laws and university policies, and collaborates with campus stakeholders to address student needs and advance institutional priorities. The position serves as a resource to the university community, provides consultation on complex student issues, and develops recommendations, proposals, and reports for senior leadership to support informed decision-making and strategic initiatives.
Complete Dean's Certifications, disciplinary clearances, and conduct verifications.
Compile and provide student conduct data for the Annual Security Report.
During declared campus emergencies, this position may be required to perform specific job‑related duties at a designated off campus location.
Supervises the Dean of Students team, including Student Care Services, University Conduct, Programming and Resolution, Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life, administrative staff, students, volunteers, and interns.
Reports to the Associate Vice President of Student Engagement and exercises a high level of independent judgment and decision-making within the scope of assigned authority.
Master's and 6+ years of relevant experience or Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of relevant experience. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219.
This position requires a background check. In conjunction with the University's policy, this position may also require a credit check.The holder of this position is designated as a “Responsible Employee” pursuant to their role under Title IX. Therefore, the incumbent must promptly report allegations of sexual misconduct, sexual violence, and child sexual abuse by or against any student, employee, contractor, or visitor to the University’s Title IX Administrator or any divisional Title IX Coordinator
