Job summary

Qualifications

• Active, unencumbered RN/APRN license in South Carolina.
• MSN minimum; Doctoral degree required for Dean.
• At least five years of RN practice with at least two years as faculty.
• At least one year of administrative/management experience.
• Proficient with word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and email.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and analytical skills.
• Able to be a positive, supportive role model.
• Criminal background check, drug screening, immunizations, CPR and HIPAA certifications completed.

Dean of Nursing

Fortis College in Columbia SC has a current opening for a Dean of Nursing. Fortis is affiliated with Education Affiliates a company with approximately 50 post-secondary schools nationwide, with over 20 of these locations offering nursing programs. These schools are known as Fortis College, Fortis Institute, Denver School of Nursing, and St. Paul's School of Nursing. Our programs range from practical nursing to MSN degrees.

Position Description:

The Dean/Director of Nursing is responsible for providing leadership in the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of the nursing program. The person in this role must facilitate responsiveness by the program, to the needs of the community and the health care system, as well as, foster within the program, an organizational culture that supports collegiality, personal well-being, and professional development of students, faculty, and staff. The Dean/Director also serves as the representative of the program to the College/Campus administration, regulatory and accreditation bodies, Education Affiliates Nursing Division, the local advisory committee, and to other internal and external constituencies.

Requirements:

• Current active, unencumbered licensure as a Registered Nurse or APRN in the state of South Carolina or multistate privilege to practice nursing in South Carolina.
• Minimum of an MSN is required (Doctoral degree in nursing or health-related major required for a Dean).
• At least five years of practice experience as a Registered Nurse, with at least two as a faculty member in a professional nursing education program.
• Minimum of one (1) year of successful experience in an administrative or management role.
• Competent in personal computer applications: word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and email.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and analytical skills.
• Ability to serve as a positive, supportive, and enthusiastic role model.
• Successful completion of a criminal background check, drug screening, appropriate immunizations, and CPR and HIPPA certification.
