Job description

Summary

The Dean of Nursing will provide executive leadership over the nursing program at the campus and will contribute to meeting educational outcome goals and growth through the proper management of the college's resources. The Dean organizes, supervises and directs a professional staff, including full-time and part-time faculty, to ensure curricula are current and consistently delivered in an environment and manner conducive to learning in accordance with College objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develops and implements short‑term and long‑term strategic plans for campus growth that is consistent with the missions, vision and values of Carrington College.
  • Exercises leadership in the development and maintenance of new programs and/or changes to existing programs.
  • Establishes and maintains an effective organizational structure to accomplish the College’s objectives; ensures professional development of nursing staff for strong succession planning.
  • Prepares and submits self‑study and other reports and conducts related activities to support accreditation, licensing, compliance and state nursing board requirements.
  • Responsible for licensing and compliance under the direction of and in coordination with relevant departments to ensure campus issues are addressed timely.
  • Assumes responsibility for faculty and support staff orientation to accreditation.
  • Provides guidance, advice and coaching for faculty regarding accreditation.
  • Monitors student success including persistence, graduation rates, first‑time NCLEX‑RN pass rates and student satisfaction; creates action plans for any areas not meeting standards.
  • Serves as a resource person, mentor and policy interpreter for students experiencing unresolved difficulties.
  • Coordinates standardized testing, including ordering and distribution of materials, oversight of exams, and evaluation of curriculum effectiveness.
  • Provides sound business, managerial and financial guidance to subordinates and facilitates effective daily communication to reinforce teamwork and information sharing.
  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory and statutory regulations; amends policies and procedures as needed.
  • Creates, implements and balances initiatives designed to increase new student enrollments and support transfer credits.
  • Manages student success and retention by effectively handling academic programs, support activities and resources.
  • Recruit, develop and retain excellent faculty and staff, including setting up development programs and timely performance reviews; manages succession planning and growth opportunities.
  • Ensures faculty and academic staff are hired with appropriate credentials, knowledge, skill and experience to meet program needs.
  • Supplies formal training and development programs for faculty and academic management.
  • Ensures quality of instruction through periodic evaluations and audits of program effectiveness.
  • Supports students in pursuing governmental and other financial assistance.
  • Provides programs for non‑academic student support services to maximize success.
  • Position must be on‑site and student‑facing.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience
  • Master of Science Degree in Nursing (MSN)
  • Idaho Registered Nurse license
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers certification
  • Evidence of experience in education, administration, and practice sufficient to administer the program
Physical Demands

Regular sitting, handling, reaching, talking, hearing and occasional walking, standing, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling. Regular lifting up to 10 lb, frequent lifting up to 25 lb and occasional lifting up to 50 lb.

Travel Required

Yes, as needed to visit clinical sites.
