Description du poste

Memphis, Tennessee - The University of Tennessee Health Sciences is searching for an accomplished, contemporary, and collaborative leader to serve as Dean of the College of Graduate Health Sciences. This is an exceptional opportunity to lead graduate and postdoctoral education at Tennessee's primary public academic health science center and to shape the future of a research-intensive graduate enterprise that directly supports the institution's research mission and strategic growth objectives. The Dean will provide visionary leadership for graduate and postdoctoral education, develop and implement a comprehensive strategic plan for the College, strengthen recruitment and student success initiatives, advance interdisciplinary research training, and build infrastructure that supports institutional competitiveness for training grants, fellowships, and research funding. The successful candidate will serve as a champion for graduate students, postdoctoral scholars, faculty mentors, and graduate education across the institution.

Following its achievement of Carnegie Research 1 (R1) designation, UT Health Sciences is positioned among the nation's leading research-intensive institutions and is committed to leveraging graduate education as a strategic driver of research growth, workforce development, innovation, and national competitiveness. The institution's senior leadership, faculty, students, and research community share a strong commitment to elevating graduate and postdoctoral education as a central component of the UT Health Sciences long-term strategic vision. The next Dean will join UT Health Sciences at a pivotal moment. The College is poised to strengthen its role as a driver of research excellence, doctoral and postdoctoral training, workforce development, innovation, and growth in external funding. Senior leadership, faculty, staff, and students have demonstrated a strong commitment to advancing graduate education and building upon a nationally competitive Graduate School model.

UT Health Sciences is dedicated to delivering groundbreaking discoveries with global impact and training the next generation of health science leaders. It is an exciting time for UT Health Sciences as the main Memphis campus has invested significantly in renovation and construction, including a new Translational Science Research Building and a dedicated Multi-Disciplinary Simulation Building. Employing more than 4,600 people on its faculty, staff, and not-for-profit corporation faculty practice groups, and with more than 3,200 students across the state, UT Health Sciences contributes $4 billion to the Tennessee economy.

The successful candidate will inherit a college that benefits from strong institutional support, a collaborative academic culture, highly engaged faculty, successful graduates, partnerships with leading research organizations, and a clear mandate for growth and innovation. The Dean will work closely with academic and research leadership to establish the College as a national model for graduate and postdoctoral education within an academic health science center.

Reporting to the Chancellor, Dr. Peter Buckley, the incoming Dean will support students, faculty, and staff in the College. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative leader who possesses academic excellence and strategic acumen to work effectively across a complex academic health sciences environment. The successful Dean will demonstrate the ability to build consensus among diverse stakeholders, align graduate education with institutional research priorities, and foster strong partnerships with academic and research leaders across UT Health Sciences. The successful candidate will be passionate about, and an effective advocate for, graduate education and mentorship. This is a tenure-track appointment at the level of associate or full professor, with significant support available for those seeking to maintain active funding.
