Job summary

Calvin University seeks a Dean for the School of Engineering and Computer Science to provide visionary leadership, guide curricular innovation, and strengthen industry partnerships. The Dean collaborates with university leadership to align strategy with Calvin’s Christian mission, ethical engagement, and societal impact.

The role includes fundraising, faculty support, and external relations to advance engineering education and research.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in engineering, CS, or closely related technology discipline.
• Significant leadership experience in higher education, industry, or a related professional setting.
• Demonstrated commitment to Christian higher education and Calvin University’s Reformed mission.
• Ability to articulate and support integration of Christian faith, ethical reflection, and technological excellence.
• Strong interest in or demonstrated success in fundraising, donor relations, grant development, or external resource development.
• Evidence of successful collaboration across disciplines, departments, or organizational units.
• Strong communication, administrative, and relational skills.
• Experience managing people, budgets, programs, or strategic initiatives.
• Ability to represent the School credibly to external audiences, including employers, donors, alumni, advisory boards, and community partners.

Responsibilities

• Provide visionary leadership for launch, growth, and long-term development of the School of Engineering and Computer Science.
• Develop and implement a strategic plan aligning with Calvin’s mission and growth goals.
• Lead fundraising and donor relationship activities for the Dean’s Office.
• Cultivate external partnerships with employers, alumni, and industry partners.
• Support faculty and students through strategic initiatives, program innovation, and resource development.
