Job summary

PHILADELPHIA SCHOOL DISTRICT in Philadelphia seeks a Teacher, Special Education, Deaf/Hard of Hearing to deliver specialized services to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. You will implement the district's curriculum with fidelity while differentiating instruction to address linguistic and audiological needs.

Collaborate with families, medical and instructional staff to provide a comprehensive, student-centered educational experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Experience or coursework in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education preferred.
• Knowledge of ASL, total communication, and audiology basics.

Responsibilities

• Develops individualized instructional approaches based on student histories and needs.
• Plans and implements units across elementary and secondary subjects with auditory support.
• Employs assistive technology and amplification devices to support language access.
• Communicates with families to support student well-being and connects with community resources.
• Participates in professional development and collaborative teams to address student needs.
• Engages in co-teaching and curriculum committees to promote inclusion.
