Job summary

Nassau BOCES is seeking a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing to serve students across our programs. The role includes conducting hearing services, delivering targeted interventions, and collaborating with educators and families to support inclusive learning.

The ideal candidate holds NYSED certification in Deaf and Hard of Hearing and has experience with hearing-impaired students, with strong communication and documentation skills. Office-based role with collaboration across districts.

Qualifications

• Certification as Deaf and Hard of Hearing required by NYSED.
• Experience working with students with hearing impairment or deafness.
• Strong written and verbal interpersonal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with assistive listening devices preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct hearing screenings and re-evaluations for assigned students.
• Deliver individual hearing services per student IEP or 504 mandates.
• Provide consultation to teachers and staff to ensure inclusive learning environments.
• Maintain accurate records, session notes, and related documentation.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, parents, and districts.
• Communicate with supervisors and provide required documentation.
• Participate in staff meetings and professional development.
• Monitor use of assistive technologies (HAT, cochlear implants).
