GOAL: The essential functions of the Para-Educator position include (1) regular, dependable attendance on the job; (2) the ability to perform the identified tasks and to possess and utilize the identified knowledge, skills, and abilities and to perform the identified work activities; and, (3) the ability to perform the physical requirements.

Reports To: Building Principal

Essential Job Functions:

Assist students in the regular classroom.

Assist students in the resource room.

First aid knowledge.

Train and teach students - Identify the educational needs and teach or instruct.

Get Information - Observe, receive, and otherwise obtain information from all relevant sources.

Establish and Maintain Interpersonal Relationships - Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, and maintain them over time.

Maintain confidentiality-maintain a positive relationship with students refraining from discussion of student matters outside the school setting.

Communicate with Supervisors and Peers - Provide information to supervisors and co-workers by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.

Think Creatively - Develop, design, or create new applications, ideas, relationships, systems, or products, including artistic contributions.

  • Enforce administration policies and rules governing students.

Secondary or transition students

  • Assist with job coaching at community sites as well as with transportation to and from job sites
  • Assist special education students in vocational training programs
  • Accompany/transport students on community experience/field trips
