Job summary

Highmark Health is seeking a DB2 Database Administrator to design, manage, and optimize enterprise DB2 databases. You will ensure high availability, security, and peak performance of core DB2 systems supporting healthcare operations, collaborating with development teams, mentoring colleagues, and driving continuous improvement.

Responsibilities include administration of DB2 across environments, object design, change management adherence, and on-call support.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED is required.
1–3 years of IT experience.
Vendor DBA certifications preferred.
Health insurance industry knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

Administer, maintain, and support DB2 databases across production and test environments.
Design, create, modify, and maintain core database objects such as tablespaces, tables, indexes, views, packages, and plans.
Apply changes, upgrades, patches, and releases per change-management processes.
Support capacity planning, growth management, and storage forecasting.
Monitor and tune performance to optimize app response times.
Lead incident resolution and on-call rotations.
Ensure backups, DR plans, and governance compliance.
Collaborate with development teams for SQL optimization and guidance.
Develop automation scripts and maintain runbooks and standards.
