Experis Technology Group seeks a DB2 Database Administrator in New York, NY. The role supports DB2 v12+ on IBM z/OS, collaborating with application teams to install, migrate releases, and execute backups and tuning.

The project spans roughly 36 months with a hybrid on-site/remote schedule at 5 Manhattan West. The position requires on-call rotation, 40 hours per week, and a $90.00 hourly rate.

DB2 Database Administrator

DB2 Database Administrator (DBA) with proven experience supportingDB2 v12 (or higher) on an IBM z/OS platform. Primary responsibilities include working with applicationdevelopment teams to install and migrate releases, support execution of data fixes, define new and execute databases recovery functions, definition and execution of standard database tuning procedures (e.g., runstats, reorgs). The target systems for which support is required are the Payroll Management System (PMS),the Pension Payroll Management System (PPMS) and the Financial Management System (FMS).

Primary Responsibilities:

• Ensure that all installation, configuration, and tuning of DB2 databases are completed efficiently.
• Author and validate procedures for all database processes.
• Identify potential issues and deliver modifications / updates for DB2 programs.
• Communicate with and deliver to Tech Support all elements to be migrated with specificinstructions to be performed during the production migration.
• Assist Systems areas with tool upgrades and participate in Disaster Recovery drills.
• Define and execute databases recovery functions, definition and execution of standard database tuning procedures (e.g., runstats, reorgs).
• Monitor the health of the key database operations (backup / recovery processes, logging, systemresponse times, etc.).
• Open and manage tickets logged with IBM to resolution.
• Work with application development teams to install and migrate software releases (DB2 tasks) andsupport execution of data fixes (backups, packaging for production, etc.).
• Perform DB2 DB troubleshooting of online and batch programs during production, user acceptancetesting, integrated system testing, performance testing and development phases of the work effort.
• Design and execute technical tests to ensure that vendor and FISA software deliveries address thebusiness and technical problems in a manner consistent with FISA standards for quality andcompleteness.
• Perform all system administration activities for the IBM InfoSphere Data Replication product. Highavailability of the product is required as it is a critical part of the City's Financial ManagementSystem.

The selected candidate will participate in on-call rotation and flexible work hours to support projectdevelopment.

Mandatory Qualifications:

• Experience with IBM DB2 V12 or higher.
• Candidate must have demonstrated experience working with application teams to build andmaintain data propagation solutions - using "IBM InfoSphere Replication Server".
• Experience with CICS transaction server.
• Ability to author REXX scripts.
• Ability to troubleshoot assembler code.
• Installation, configuration, and tuning of new DB2 databases.
• Ability to troubleshoot issues with DB2 embedded within COBOL programs.
• Ability to perform all database admin duties (backup/recovery, reorgs, DB trouble shooting).
• Performance tuning at a DB2 system level or individual SQL statements/procedures.
• Knowledge of the Oracle Transparent Gateway product.
• Knowledge of DB2 UDB (ie., experience with DB2 connect).
• Experience installing and troubleshooting IBM Tivoli LDAP server product running on AIX.
• Ability to install and manage DB2 on AIX platforms.
• Deep experience with large-scale, enterprise wide, governmental budget and accounting solutions.
• Experience with IBM IMS database management or higher (preferred). Including ability to performa checkpoint restore of an IMS database.

Education Requirements:

• A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in computer science, engineering, or a relatedfield, along with four years of satisfactory full-time experience in datacenter engineering andoperations, cloud engineering and operations, or complex IT infrastructure engineering; or
• A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and eight years of satisfactory full-timeexperience in the same fields listed above; or
• Education and/or experience equivalent to "1" or "2" above.
