Job summary

Potbelly is hiring a Daytime Team Member for the Mount Prospect, IL location. The role covers morning and day shifts (8am-4pm) to open the shop, prep food, and serve customers.

Pay ranges from $15.25 to $15.75 per hour plus digital tips, with eligible benefits and a flexible schedule. Ideal candidates are at least 16 years old, with a customer-first mindset and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• At least 16 years of age.
• Friendly, customer-first mindset in fast-paced, energetic environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Comfortable in a bustling kitchen; knife skills a plus.
• Able to manage allergens: peanut, egg, dairy, gluten, soy, seafood, shellfish.
• Team player.
• Able to stand/walk 3 hours minimum; lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Illinois applicants must become food safety certified within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Load, dress, shakes, cash, prep, and front stations under direction.
• Follow health and safety standards for food, cleanliness and safety.
• Restock food line, chips and cooler.
• Prepare sandwiches, salads, soups, cookies, ice cream, etc. efficiently.
• Use automatic slicer if 18 or older.
• Clean tables, counters, floors, bathrooms, kitchen and utensils; take out trash.
• Operate cash register and balance cash handling.
• Handle customer inquiries and complaints.
• Take delivery/catering/pickup orders by phone.
• Other duties as assigned.

Schedule:

We're hiring Team Members available for morning and day shifts ranging from 8am-4pm. Join our team to help open the shop, prep food, and serve customers, plus start the energy & good vibes early! You don't need to be available the entire time, but you must have availability within this window.

What you bring to the table:

• you are at least 16 years of age

Job Duties and Functions:

• Work multiple stations (load, dress, shakes, cash, prep, front) as directed by a Shift Leader or Manager.
• Comply with health and safety standards for food, cleanliness and safety

• Prepare quality finished products (sandwiches, salads, soups, cookies, ice cream, etc.) efficiently
• If 18 or older, use of the automatic slicer to prep food items
• Clean tables, counters, floors, bathrooms, kitchen and utensils; take out trash
• Operate cash register: handle, balance and follow all cash handling procedures
• Effectively handle customer complaints/issues
• Takes delivery/catering/pickup orders over the phone
