Job summary

Derby Public Schools is seeking a custodian for the maintenance and custodial team. You will keep classrooms and facilities clean, manage daily cleaning tasks, and assist the head custodian in maintaining a safe, healthy building environment.

The role requires the ability to perform physical tasks, operate cleaning equipment, and follow district policies. This position is classified under non-exempt, with responsibilities including snow removal and routine building checks.

Qualifications

• Demonstrate aptitude or competence for executing the duties and responsibilities outlined.
• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• Valid Kansas drivers license, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Keep buildings and premises neat and clean.
• Monitor building temperature to provide comfortable and economical conditions.
• Clear snow from walkways and steps during inclement weather.
• Clean classrooms, dust furniture, sweep, mop, and vacuum corridors.
• Clean and disinfect restrooms and drinking fountains.
• Assist the head custodian in performing duties as required.
• Maintain proper sanitary practices and report maintenance concerns.
