Job Purpose

The Daycare Teacher Assistant at the COMMUNITY ACTION AGENCY OF OKLAHOMA will support the lead teacher in creating a nurturing and educational environment for young children. This role is essential in assisting with the implementation of daily activities, ensuring the safety and well-being of children, and fostering a positive learning atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the lead teacher in planning and executing educational activities and curriculum designed to promote physical, social, and intellectual growth.
  • Supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities, ensuring their safety and engagement.
  • Support the lead teacher in maintaining a clean, organized, and inviting classroom environment.
  • Help prepare materials and resources needed for daily activities and special projects.
  • Monitor and document children's progress and behavior, reporting observations to the lead teacher.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians, providing updates on children's activities and progress.
  • Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Assist with the preparation and serving of snacks and meals, adhering to dietary guidelines and health standards.
  • Respond to children's needs promptly and with sensitivity, fostering a supportive and caring atmosphere.
QualificationsRequired Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Associate degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field is preferred.
Required Experience:
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working with young children in a daycare, preschool, or similar setting.
  • Experience in assisting lead teachers with classroom management and lesson planning is preferred.
