Job summary

Corporation for Public Management is seeking a compassionate Day Support Specialist to help individuals build meaningful skills, relationships, and greater independence in daily activities and community involvement.

The role requires initiative, effective communication, and a person-centered approach. You will engage individuals in community-based activities, document progress, and support goal attainment while ensuring safety and dignity at all times.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
• Knowledge of Connecticut DDS systems preferred.
• DDS Medication Certification, First Aid, CPR, and PMT certifications must be obtained within six months of hire and maintained throughout employment.
• Experience supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities preferred.
• Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with patience, professionalism, and compassion.

Responsibilities

• Actively engage individuals in meaningful activities within program and community settings.
• Teach, assist, and supervise individuals during activities, employment opportunities, and skill-building exercises.
• Plan community outings with multiple activity options.
• Assist with personal care while maintaining dignity, privacy, and safety.
• Support individuals in achieving goals identified in their ISPs.
• Document ISP objectives, attendance, behavioral data, participation, and progress.
• Maintain organized and current case records.
• Report behavioral, medical, or routine changes to the supervisor or team.
• Safely transport individuals between locations and work sites.
• Maintain vehicle logs and ensure vehicles are clean and safe.
• Report vehicle damage or maintenance needs promptly.
• Perform additional duties assigned by the Program Coordinator.

CPM is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and motivated Day Support Specialist to help individuals build meaningful skills, relationships, and greater independence.

In this role, you will create engaging opportunities that encourage each individual’s participation, personal growth, and connection to the community. The ideal candidate takes initiative, communicates effectively, and is committed to providing respectful, person-centered support.

Key Responsibilities

• Actively engage individuals in meaningful activities within program and community settings.
• Teach, assist, and supervise individuals during activities, employment opportunities, and skill-building exercises.

• Perform additional duties assigned by the Program Coordinator.
