Job summary

Food City in Chilhowie, VA is seeking a store associate responsible for stocking merchandise, assisting customers, and maintaining organization across the sales floor and stockroom. The role involves unloading deliveries, rotating stock, and ensuring pricing accuracy to support store operations.

The position emphasizes reliability, ability to follow directions, and on-site attendance, with opportunities to contribute to a busy retail environment and help the community receive quality service.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Stocking experience is a plus but not required.
• Able to meet standard physical, mental, and visual demands.
• Able to understand and follow verbal and/or written instructions and perform routine tasks with daily interaction with others.
• On-site work required for scheduled shifts to follow policies.

Responsibilities

• Stock all merchandise in proper location as directed by management.
• Provide efficient and courteous service to customers at all times.
• Replace misplaced items to the proper location and unload trucks.
• Sweep, mop, and keep store areas neat and clean; rotate stock to maintain freshness.
• Check shelf labels for pricing accuracy and hang shelf tags as needed.
• Maintain a neat stockroom and dispose of trash properly.
• Stock and organize product in stockroom; bale boxes as required.

Essential Job Functions:

• Stock all merchandise in its proper location according to shelf allocation established by management.
• Provide efficient and courteous service to customers at all times.
• Replace misplaced items to the proper location.
• Unload trucks.
• Sweep and mop all areas of store.
• Check the shelf label of each item to ensure pricing accuracy.
• Keep stockroom area neat and clean.
• Properly remove and dispose of all trash.
• Rotate all merchandise when stocking to ensure freshness and quality.
• Clean and straighten shelves.
• Responsible for hanging shelf tags.
• Stack product in stockroom.
• Bale all boxes.

Job Qualifications:

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Stocking experience a plus, but not required
• Ability to meet standard Physical, Mental, and Visual demands
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and/or written instructions, perform routine and repetitive tasks and have constant contact/interaction with various levels of individuals on a daily basis
• Ability to attend on-site work during scheduled shifts to adhere to company time and attendance policies
