Hy-Vee Inc. is seeking a Day Stocker to keep shelves full, organized, and looking great for every customer. You’ll unload trucks, rotate product, assist customers, and help maintain a tidy store. If you enjoy staying active and being part of a team, this role could be a great fit.

You’ll work under the District Store Director, Store Manager, and various Assistant Managers, with on-the-job training and safety guidelines to ensure a positive, efficient shopping experience.

• Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting customers warmly and helping them find what they need throughout the store
• Assist customers with finding products, reaching items, carrying heavy purchases, and passing along any feedback or requests to the team
• Unload trucks, open containers, stock shelves, run overstock on risers, and rotate product to ensure freshness
• Monitor for mis-picked items, product outs, and wrong deliveries, and report issues accordingly
• Organize stock for greatest efficiency and clean and restock any damaged items
• Tag shelves with overstock in the back room and understock drawers
• Report new or different items to the scanning coordinator for system input
• Operate the register for customer purchases as needed
• Stock supplies including cigarettes, front-end sacks, and department supplies
• Assist with outside maintenance including shoveling snow, spreading ice melt, and returning carts
• Help with cleaning throughout the store including registers, restrooms, breakroom, and backroom
• Train new day stockers on job duties as needed
• Maintain compliance with Hy-Vee’s dress code, hygiene standards, and all company policies
• Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as needed

Physical Requirements

• Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing 100 pounds or more, with or without mechanical assistance
• Continuously stand and walk on hard surfaces for extended periods
• Ability to operate pallet jacks, forklifts, or similar material-handling equipment (required operator certification must be completed prior to independent use)
• Work in cooler or freezer environments for extended periods
• Ability to safely use sharp knives and blades to cut, trim, or grind product
• Operate a cardboard baler or compactor
• Perform repetitive motions associated with dough mixing, scaling, and proofing
• Ability to unload, lift, stock, and rotate incoming truck freight and merchandise

Work Environment

This is a physically demanding, hands-on role performed throughout the store. You may encounter daily exposure to dirt, noise, equipment movement hazards, and cleaning chemicals or solvents, with occasional exposure to temperature extremes and potential electrical shock. The role involves working with and around heavy store equipment. Safety is always a priority, and training is provided to help ensure a safe and supportive work environment.

Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre employment drug screen.
