Job summary

Sanford Health is seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant to assist patients with therapy activities and exercises outlined in a treatment plan under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist. The role focuses on improving daily living activities and quality of life across care settings.

The PTA will provide, monitor and document therapy services for individuals with physical, cognitive or developmental impairments, adapting interventions to demonstrate progress toward goals.

Qualifications

• Education level per state licensure.
• Graduate through an approved American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) program as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
• Licensed as a Physical Therapist Assistant in the state(s) of practice.
• Conforms to the supervision and licensing standards of the state(s) where services are provided.
• BLS certification required within six months of employment.
• When applicable, may require valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Provides, monitors and records therapy services to patients/residents/clients with physical, cognitive, developmental impairments.
• Selects, implements and modifies therapeutic activities aligned with demonstrated competency and patient goals.
• Communicates with and documents the patient’s responses to intervention for the supervising PT.
• Follows accepted clinical practice guidelines and may work in post-acute, long-term care, or home health settings.
