Job summary

Dawn Foods specializes in bakery manufacturing and ingredients distribution. We are seeking a Machine Operator I for our Jackson, Michigan facility. The role involves handling raw materials, mixing ingredients, and packaging for shipping within a controlled, safety-driven environment.

You will help maintain GMP standards, operate production systems, and ensure traceability through barcode scanning while collaborating with a dedicated team. Day shift, onsite, with overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Food manufacturing experience preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Effective communication with team members.
• Basic math and measurement skills.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
• Forklift certification helpful; certification ability to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Ensure products meet specifications, food safety, and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain high housekeeping standards per GMP, AIB, IFS, HACCP.
• Operate computer systems used in production processes.
• Operate auxiliary equipment as needed for each function.
• Follow safety instructions to ensure quality and food safety.
• Use hand-held barcode scanner to record materials and products; complete run paperwork.
• Adhere to SSOPs and GMP; maintain scale checks and lot numbers.
• Communicate quality, safety, scheduling issues to lead/supervisor.
• Train new team members and support food defense measures.
