Job summary

Indiana Veterans' Home is seeking a Certified Nurse Aide to work in the Nursing Department. The role includes performing basic nursing care under supervision, reporting to the unit manager or charge nurse, and assisting with resident care planning and transportation.

Responsibilities include bathing, feeding, transferring, documenting care, and responding to call lights. Must maintain CNA certification and follow HIPAA rules and VA policies; inservice training is required.

Qualifications

• Must be certified as a Nurse Aide within 120 days of employment; maintain CNA and first aid certification.
• Ability to understand and communicate with residents and complete nursing forms.
• Follow verbal instructions and provide basic nursing care practices.
• Use medical equipment within scope of certification.
• Adhere to HIPAA rules and Veterans' Administration policies.
• Attend required inservice training; prioritize workload; be flexible.
• Recognize basic changes in resident condition and report to the nurse.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic nursing care such as bathing, feeding, transferring, toileting, nail care and ROM.
• Answer call lights and residents' requests for assistance.
• Document care provided and maintain inventory and supplies.
• Assist with orientation of new employees on the unit.
• Assist with resident transportation to appointments and activities.
• Maintain a safe, respectful environment and follow infection control standards.
• Support with resident activities and respond to codes if needed.
