Job summary

Amivie, LLC in Winston-Salem, NC is seeking Direct Support Professionals to provide compassionate, person-centered care to individuals with IDD and mental health needs. You will assist with ADLs, administer medications after training, transport clients in company vehicles for community integration, and document care promptly in the EHR while supporting daily goal achievement.

All work requires HIPAA compliance, professional boundaries, reliable transportation, and the ability to work on site

Qualifications

  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must be at least 18 years old and have a valid driver’s license.
  • Background checks and health screening required (TB).
  • CPR/FA training and medication administration training completed or obtained.

Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) per individual plan.
  • Administer prescribed medications after training.
  • Safely transport individuals in company vehicles for community integration.
  • Complete documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) in a timely manner.
  • Prepare meals and snacks as directed by the individual/family.
  • Assist individuals with goal completion per the individualized support plan.
  • Engage with individuals in day programs and the community.
  • Maintain HIPAA privacy and professional boundaries at all times.
  • Ensure facility cleanliness and report maintenance concerns.
  • Remain awake, alert, and capable of performing physical duties as required.

Overview

DSPs play an important part in helping the people we serve live their best lives with meaning and dignity. DSPs are representatives of Amivie and are expected to create and maintain professional, positive, and nurturing relationships with person served and established support systems. It’s important that DSPs must be comfortable and willing to be a vital part of providing individualized care to those we serve.

DSPs provide direct care, skill building support, and offer opportunities to individuals diagnosed with Intellectual Disabilities or Developmental Disabilities, mental health and/or substance abuse in the following areas; motor skills, communication skills, socialization skills, personal self-care or activities of daily living (ADLs), adaptive behaviors, and the execution of planned active treatment goals, electronic documentation, medication management, feeding/meal preparation, and interaction with individuals.

Responsibilities
  • Provide assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs); (i.e. toileting, feeding, etc.) based on individual needs/person centered plan.
  • Administer prescribed medication(s) to identified individual(s) upon completion of training.
  • Safely transport individuals(s) in company approved vehicles. (Vehicles can be a 6-15 passenger van depending on the program) for community integration
  • Complete all required documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) timely.
  • Prepare meals and snacks provided by the individual and/or family.
  • Assist the individual(s) with goal completion as documented in the individualized support plan.
  • Actively engage with the individuals in the day program and community.
  • Uphold, respect, and advocate for individual rights at all times.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain the confidentiality and privacy of the individual's information at all times.
  • Adhere to company policies and core values to foster a professional and supportive environment.
  • Maintain the health and safety of all individuals while promoting independence and showing the individual's respect.
  • Establish and uphold appropriate professional boundaries in all interactions, ensuring that relationships remain ethical, objective, and focused on individual and organization goals.
  • Ensure cleanliness of the facility and report any maintenance concerns immediately.
  • Must be proficient with technology.
  • Must remain awake and alert for the duration of all shifts.
  • Must be able to perform physical demands of the position (i.e. lifting, transfers).
  • Other duties as assigned.
Training Requirements

Ensure all certifications and training requirements and renewals are met on time to maintain compliance. Including but not limited to:

  • CPR/FA
  • Reactive Strategies/Interventions
  • Medication Administration
Qualifications
  • Minimum of High School Diploma or GED (General Equivalency Diploma)
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing
  • Must have a reliable transportation
  • Must successfully complete all background checks
  • Must successfully complete health screening (TB screening)
