Job summary

Harvard Maintenance, Inc. is seeking a Porter to maintain daily cleanliness and a welcoming environment in our Nashville facilities. You will clean lobbies, restrooms, hallways, and other common areas and respond to building management requests.

The role requires at least 1 year of porter experience and strong communication skills. Work Mon-Fri, 7:30am–4:00pm; outdoors in varying weather. USD 18.00 per hour with a competitive benefits package.

• Able to conduct face-to-face discussions with individuals or groups.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness of lobbies, hallways, elevators, restrooms, and other common areas.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust as needed to keep areas tidy.
• Empty trash and replace liners.
• Restock restroom supplies (soap, towels, toilet paper).
• Wipe doors, windows, and high-touch surfaces.
• Respond to spills, messes, and tenant requests promptly.
• Assist with moving furniture or setting up spaces for events.
• Report maintenance or safety issues to management.
• Ensure cleaning equipment and supplies are in good condition.
• Follow safety and cleaning protocols.

A day in the life:

The Porter is responsible for maintaining the daily cleanliness, appearance, and overall upkeep of public and operational spaces within the building and responds to special Building Management requests and work orders. This role is key to ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for tenants, employees, and visitors.

What you’ll do as an Exceptional Team Member

• Maintain cleanliness of lobbies, hallways, elevators, restrooms, and other common areas
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust as needed to ensure all areas are tidy and presentable
• Empty trash receptacles and replace liners
• Restock restroom supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper
• Wipe down doors, windows, and other high-touch surfaces
• Respond promptly to spills, messes, and tenant requests
• Assist with moving furniture, setting up meeting spaces, or supporting special events
• Report any maintenance or safety issues to management
• Ensure cleaning equipment and supplies are kept in good condition
• Follow all safety and cleaning protocols

What you’ll need to be an Extraordinary Team Member

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Porter.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to conduct face‑to‑face discussions with individuals or groups at all professional levels.
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, sit, stoop, or kneel as required.
