Job summary

Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy (IMSA) is seeking a part-time Day Hall Monitor Substitute to support Residence Life. You will assist with daily residence hall operations, mentor students, and ensure safety and order during shifts.

The role is non-exempt, 10-month, employment-at-will with a starting wage of $15.00 per hour. Typical hours are Monday–Friday, 7:30am–3:00pm, with occasional Wednesdays as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Valid U.S. Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Monitor safety and security of residence halls by completing rounds and responding to emergencies.
• Perform basic cleaning and disinfecting of the residence hall.
• Communicate student issues with Student Affairs, residence life staff, and security offices.
• Support well-being of up to 96 students, mentoring and checking in.
• Use PowerSchool for student information and attendance tracking.
• Assist with food service, supervise during service hours, and monitor external deliveries.
• Deliver medical bags to the health office and facilitate student mail pickup.
• Transport students to immediate care or emergency rooms as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

POSITION SUMMARY

IMSA is actively seeking applications for the part-time position of Day Hall Monitor Substitute in the Office of Residence Life. Day Hall Monitors support Residential Life live-in staff by assisting with the day to day operations of the residence halls as well as with the development of students.

This position is a non-exempt, 10 month, employment-at-will position at a starting rate of $15.00 per hour.Hours/Shift/Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:30am – 3:00pm with a 30 minute lunch break, on an as needed basis with regular needs on most Wednesdays.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Monitor safety and security of residence halls and occupants by completing rounds of all floors, viewing security monitors, locking/unlocking spaces, conducting emergency drills, and responding to emergencies
• Basic cleaning and disinfecting of residence hall
• Communicate all student issues with appropriate staff including Student Affairs, residence life staff, maintenance, health office, attendance office, and security office.
• Ensure well-being of up to 96 students in the hall by addressing behavioral issues, escorting students to main building, providing mentorship, and checking in with students in hall due to distance learning or excusal from class
• Proficient use of Student Information System (PowerSchool)
• Assist with food service, provide supervision during service hours, and monitor external food deliveries
• Deliver medical bags to health office, facilitate student mail pickup, provide attendance accountability checks, and ensure student environments are generally organized and clean.
• Transport students to immediate care or emergency room in the event of an emergency in one of our IMSA vehicles.
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Valid U.S. Driver's License

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience and knowledge in academic setting/work with adolescents highly desirable.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Work is performed in an office setting with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards. Substantial time is spent working on a computer. This role generally requires mobility, written and verbal communication, hearing and visual capabilities. COMPENSATION:

Compensation for this position is $15.00/hr. As a contingent position, this position is not benefits eligible.
