Job summary

Child Serve in Ames, IA is hiring a Day Habilitation Specialist for Monday–Friday daytime hours. The role supports skill development for young adults in a group setting and offers full-time, benefits-eligible employment. Salary is up to $18/hour with 8:30am–3:30pm schedule.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old; pass criminal and child abuse background checks; high school diploma preferred.
• Must qualify as a ChildServe authorized driver; pass motor vehicle and car safety checks; provide valid license and insurance; chauffeur’s license if required.
• Strong oral and written communication skills for accurate documentation; experience with or knowledge of children with special health care needs preferred.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English effectively for clear communication and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care and assist individuals with accessing the community and increasing independence with communication, socialization and daily living skills.
• Implement individual’s care plans and provide ongoing feedback regarding additional or changing care plan needs to child’s supervisor or Day Hab Supervisor.
• Required to become certified for medication administration, seizures, and g-tube feedings as well as other specialized trainings as identified.
• Assure timely and accurate documentation.
